Institute for eHealth Equity
  • Follow

The Institute for eHealth Equity (IeHE) is an African American-led company that works directly at the intersection of underserved community outreach and engagement, health information technology (HIT) adoption, health equity and health literacy improvement, and health disparity reduction.

IeHE is partnering with Morehouse School of Medicine, Within3 and Health Literacy Media to develop the OurHealthMinistry.com (OHM) platform. OHM is developed as a
geographically expandable, culturally appropriate, web-based collaborative space designed to connect the leaders of faith-based organizations (FBOs) locally, regionally and nationally. These organizations are typically trusted and are historically embedded in communities where underrepresented community members live, work, play, pray and age. We leverage the OHM ecosystem to connect these FBOs with each other and, importantly, to the exponential number of underrepresented community members they serve.

Importantly, we are now working to integrate tools and technologies, such as telemedicine solutions, into OHM that will shorten the distance between our FBOs and healthcare payer, provider, government, academic, life science and pharma stakeholders. When appropriate, we can then invite these healthcare stakeholders to the culturally appropriate OHM ecosystem. This is leveling the playing field. Health Equity in action!

The RecoveryPlus.health method is a clinically proven remote patient care and management platform designed to increase recovery and long-term survival rates for patients who’ve had cardiac events, are at risk, or have other conditions requiring rehab. The program is also valuable to start in an in-patient setting where healthcare professionals can work with RecoveryPlus.health to evaluate and formulate the rehab plan and then transition post-acute patients into the home-based sessions, increasing compliance and long-term benefits. The original concept was developed by a surgeon in China whose own parents needed at-home rehabilitation when no such program existed. The medical team includes compassionate and skilled doctors, nurses, exercise therapists, dieticians and other professionals who work virtually one-on-one with each patient, integrating devices, personalized smartphone/computer apps, reports to the referring physician and insurance billing. It’s easy for providers to set up and administer and accessible to anyone who needs it—from the comfort of home or anywhere.
